As I read your email, my husband is recuperating from a cycling accident three weeks ago, when he was hit by a truck. He has raced and cycled for more than thirty years without so much as a close call. He has worn his Road ID since 2009 every time he has ventured out, typically somewhere between 30 and 60 miles. In the accident, a truck turned suddenly left in front of him, his head went through the windshield, and he was completely unresponsive for almost three minutes. Within minutes, the EMT called me on my husband's phone, using my name and phone number on his RoadID, telling me to meet them at the trauma ER at Vanderbilt.
