Hi Edward,
My name is Nader. I just wanted to say thank you for developing the RoadID. Your product saved my life. Yesterday I was hit by a car while training for an upcoming triathlon and with the RoadID a witness was able to get in touch with my wife and the EMT was able to quickly figure out who I was. Thank you!
NaderI went out for a ride on a Thursday afternoon, May 3rd, and while riding down a busy road in my town, a car made a left turn in front of me. I slammed on the breaks and remember going over the handlebars and the next thing I remember I was in the ER. Based on the police report, it looks like I hit the back portion of the car as it turned left in front of me. A good samaritan who saw the accident stopped and stabilized my head and neck until an EMT arrived. While she was waiting she must have noticed that I wear a RoadID on my wrist. The woman called my wife and let her know that I was conscious and that I was in an accident (don't remember any of this first hand). The RoadID was the only form of ID I had on me, so my assumption is that the woman and the EMTs used it as the initial way of identifying who I was. Luckily the RoadID survived the crash, but my body, bike, and some bike components were not so lucky. I suffered a dislocated right hip, 4 broken ribs, some road rash, and numerous deep and superficial tissue bruises. Fortunately, now almost 2 weeks since the accident, I am walking mostly without crutches around the house, even though I'm still pretty sore. Hopefully I'll make a full recovery and be back on my bike soon.
