At the time of the accident, I was a 17 year-old high school cross-country runner. I was supposed to meet my parents after my daily training run. But, I never showed up. I was struck by two cars and left unconscious with multiple, life-threatening injuries. The paramedics rushed me to the hospital as a John Doe.Because I had no identification, my parents went through many terrifying and agonizing hours before they were able to be at my bedside the following day.
It took this terrible accident to make me realize the importance of having ID. I will never run again without it, and I hope others will do the same. By the way, the doctors said I would never run again. This picture proves them wrong.
