This past weekend, I went down hard during my first Cat 5 race of the season. I was unconscious with a broken Scapula (shoulder blade). The EMTs were able to use my Wrist ID Sport to contact my family and take care of all the logistical details. When I woke up in the emergencyroom, my family was already there waiting for me. I often wonder how long it would have taken the EMTs to contact my family and know my medical history had I not been wearing my Road ID. I will never know the answer, but I know one thing for sure -- I will never ride without my Road ID.
Update: I’m home now and doing a lot better. I look forward to getting back to riding again with my team here in NYC. It is good to know that most of my team riders also wear IDs. No one should ride without one.
