After sustaining injuries as a First Responder in NYC on 9/11, wearing ID became a must. I began cycling with a club after retiring and was hit by a deer while out on a training ride. The EMT's that responded were able to use the information on my ankle ID for treatment and to contact my family until I came to.
I wish I would have had an ID on 9/11. I was in and out of consciousness and the ER had to try and get as much info as they could from my badge until the computers were back on line. Retired NYPD, 9/11/01 last shift.
