I have a very rare disease called Addison's disease. The symptom of Addison's can be brought on when I'm under physical or emotional stress. During an Addison's Crisis My blood pressure and heart rate drop dangerously low. I carry an emergency injection with me everywhere I go and it is clearly stated on my Road ID where my medication is located and to give it to me.
About two months ago I was walking out of my doctors office. I was in extreme pain,(this is usually the first sign my levels are dropping) so I took a stress dose of my oral medications hoping it would help. The last thing I remember was texting my husband and telling him that I needed him to come get me or to call an ambulance. I was found about 150ft from the last place I remember. Several nurses and citizens came to my aid immediately. One of the nurses noticed my Road ID, located my shot just as my husband was pulling up. He gave me the injection and I was transported by EMS to our local hospital and released that day.
I truly do believe that had my husband not shown up when he did, the nurse who read my bracelet and found my emergency shot would have given it to me with no hesitation. Once I am unconscious, I have about a 30 minute window to receive the high dose steroids. That's why it was so important to me to have the clear directions on my alert band.
Thank you for such an amazing product that has literally, saved my life.
